Called the Virage, it’s remarkable similar to the DB9 and DBS, which comes as little surprise as it sits between the two models.
In person, the styling remains just as familiar, but the proportions are different with (if you can believe it) a nose that seems to protrude even further than those found on its siblings.

Likely target at Bentley Continental GT owners, the Virage makes a sound business case for the brand as it helps expand the lineup without adding much in the way of R&D costs. While there’s obvious savings in the design department, the car rides on the same VH architecture as the rest of the Aston lineup while power comes from (what else?) a familiar 6.0-liter V12. Output is rated at 490-hp and 420 lb-ft of torque, hitting the ground through a 6-speed automatic gearbox, helping the Virage hit 60-mph in 4.5 seconds. Top speed is 186-mph.
Websofthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09785226191503641427noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7220846004749105053.post-37665860608028454272011-02-28T23:28:00.001-08:002011-02-28T23:28:46.045-08:00Aston Martin DB4 James Bond’s car
James Bond drove a 1964-65 Aston Martin DB5 in the first Bond movies and acquainted most Americans with England’s Aston Martin. But the 1958-63 Aston DB4, which the DB5 strongly resembled, was the first all-new Aston since industrialist David Brown bought and saved the revered automaker in 1947.

Ian Fleming, author of the James Bond novels, never owned an Aston Martin, but he sure knew about classy cars. He owned a mid-1950s Ford Thunderbird two-seater and a rakish, early 1960s Studebaker Avanti, which he shipped to various countries to drive whenever he left England. Fleming’s wife was so jealous of his affection for the Avanti that she reportedly put sugar in its gas tank to gum up its engine.
But the Bond movie producers knew James Bond would have to drive an Aston Martin in the movie because it was the sleekest, fastest, most prestigious British sports car.

Most Astons have had a “DB” prefix because those, of course were David Brown’s initials. He sold the automaker in 1972 just before the big American fuel crunch and before new government regulations nearly caused the crash of the exotic sports car market in this country.
Websofthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09785226191503641427noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7220846004749105053.post-24583460665761041942011-02-28T23:27:00.001-08:002011-02-28T23:27:36.973-08:00The new Aston Martin Virage

Aston Martin has provided us with another good reason to look forward to the Geneva Motor Show, opening its doors next Tuesday, by revealing the all-new Virage.

This stunning 21st-century variant of a model which ceased production 11 years ago will be powered by a 6.0-litre V12 powertrain that generates a not insubstantial 490 ponies and 570Nm of torque. We don’t know exactly how fast that will make the Virage, but perhaps Aston is holding that information back for its world debut at the Geneva-Palexpo Conference centre. At least, we hope that’s the plan.

Though the Virage’s design traits instantly give away the fact it’s an Aston grand tourer, it is clearly distinguished from its stablemates by a side strake which houses six LEDs, a lower and wider stance than other Aston models, and an all-new rear diffuser.

Websofthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09785226191503641427noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7220846004749105053.post-52122227842764274062011-02-28T23:26:00.001-08:002011-02-28T23:26:57.351-08:00Aston Martin Virage
Aston Martin has unveiled the ultimate lightweight sports car.
The two new sports cars, the Virage Coupe and the Virage Volante, appear under the DB9 and DBS lineup as part of the Aston Martin’s VH build. Both vehicles, which will officially premiere at the Geneva Motor Show, feature bonded aluminum chassis, double-wishbone suspension on all corners and Adaptive Damping System with Sport from Aston Martin.
The new Aston Martin car is a hand-built 6.0 litre V12 engine that produces 490 bhp (365 kW/497 PS) and 570 nM (420 lb. Ft) of torque. dynamic assessment is important for the Aston Martin V8 Vantage S, accelerated with a 15:01 ratio rack, compared to 17:01 in the standard car and a larger diameter front disc brakes with six-piston brake calipers New front brake. New springs and dampers and larger rear wheels also contribute to the version of the chassis. A new system of Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) specifically for the Vantage O module with a new brake offer tailored features like hydraulic brakes (HBA) support to help with emergency braking and Hill Start Assist (HSA). The Bridgestone tires were developed to optimize the dynamic feeling better grip.
As with all Aston Martin Vantage S benefits from its own unique sound with a new exhaust and the bypass valve on a map to escape resulting in a very nice touch and very vocal.

Bridging the gap between road car and race car, the Aston Martin V8 Vantage S is heavily influenced by the 2011 Vantage GT4 race car. The GT4 takes advantage of the Vantage’s immensely rigid bonded aluminium chassis, providing the ideal platform for a race car. Minor racing safety modifications including an FIA approved roll cage and racing ‘bag’ petrol tank along with weight saving measures are made to the standard road car to convert it into a class winning race car. In 2010, it won its class at the Dubai 24 Hours following this up with further endurance race wins at the Nürburgring 24 Hours, Silverstone 24 Hours and Spa 24 Hours. It also won its first major international championship victory in the European GT4 Cup.
Aston Martin Rapide

If you need any proof that a four-door supercar can actually work then look no further than the Aston Martin Rapide. Why? Well not only does its sleek silhouette pack the same amount of sex-appeal as the Vantage and DB9 but an extra two seats means that you can now pick up even more groupies when sat behind that leather steering wheel. A bona fide babe magnet, the Rapide is also the best Aston I’ve ever driven thanks to a level of intimacy you don’t seem to get in its siblings. Better than the mighty DBS? Yes.Websofthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09785226191503641427noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7220846004749105053.post-46280915876116726062011-01-03T07:55:00.001-08:002011-01-03T07:55:42.694-08:00Aston Martin V12 Vantage plus the 2010 DBR1-2 Le Mans race car

The One77, DBS, DB9 Rapide and V12 Vantage are some of the cars that are fitted with the V12 engine of Aston Martin make. Now the same engine is going to be installed on the 2010 DBR1-2 Le Mans Race car. The engine was launched in 2009 and since then has gained in stature with each passing year. For the US this engine made first footfall in 2010.
The engine is of 6.0 liter capacity and can deliver 510 bhp or 380 kw / 517 PS and 570 Nm in torque which converts to a respectable 420 lb ft of torque.
The DBR1-2 model is made by Aston Martin and is an LMP1 race car. The unit participated in the races throughout 2009 to 2010.
The car also won the Le Mans Series in 2009 and achieved three podium finishes in 2010. The engine therefore has gained a lot of fame when it comes to its power credentials.
There is a video clip which depicts the performance of these two famed road race cars and that too in an unusual setting.Websofthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09785226191503641427noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7220846004749105053.post-34073073459240022982011-01-01T22:10:00.001-08:002011-01-01T22:10:47.063-08:00Aston Martin Releases Three New DB9 Special Editions

News sources are pegging the Cygnet with a price tag somewhere between $45,000 to $75,000, according to InsideLine.
Websofthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09785226191503641427noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7220846004749105053.post-56079868493651026452010-07-14T19:09:00.000-07:002010-07-14T19:10:12.235-07:002010 Aston Martin Vantage Barracuda Tzunamee Detail

Aston Martin – a brand as typically English as afternoon tea, or horse racing at Ascot. The small model of the classic English brand, the V8 powered Vantage, is entering into a stylistically dynamic liaison with the TZUNAMEE rim, produced by the innovative wheel manufacturer BARRACUDA WHEELS from Stein am Rhein. The front axle is adorned with 9.0 x 20 inch light alloy rims, while 10.0 x 20 inch rims are mounted on the rear drive axle.

With its striking drop centre and secondary spokes, which enable a lightweight design with high static strength, the TZUNAMEE wheel has an extremely aggressive look. It imparts breathtaking design and lightweight athleticism – precisely the attributes that characterise Aston Martin.

The matte black/polished, highly polished surface suits the V8 Vantage, painted in classic green, especially well. In addition, the wheel is available in sizes from 7.5 x 17 to 10 x 20 inches, and in the following colour schemes: Higloss black, real chrome, and white polished.

<img style="display: block; the V8 Vantage N420 which brings a new dimension of sporting prowess and dynamic ability to the V8 Vantage range.

Successor to the special edition V8 Vantage N400 of 2007, the Vantage N420 is based upon the standard 4.7-litre, 420bhp, 180mph V8 Vantage and is available as a Coupe or Roadster, and with a six-speed manual or optional Sportshift automated manual transmission.

The Vantage N420 draws inspiration from the company’s experiences at the Nürburgring 24-hour race. In the 2006 running of the annual Nürburgring endurance classic amongst a field of mostly motorsport homologated cars, Aston Martin entered a near-standard, road-registered V8 Vantage. Driven by a team of employees, including Aston Martin’s CEO, Dr Ulrich Bez, the V8 Vantage – named ‘Rose’ by the team – finished 4th in class and 24th overall from a field of more than 200 specialised racing cars.

Since then Aston Martin has returned every year to compete in this gruelling endurance race, scoring a string of class victories and podiums with road-registered V8 and V12 Vantages and most recently the new four-door Rapide. Not only has this racing success spawned a burgeoning V8 Vantage GT4 customer programme run by Aston Martin Racing, but lessons learned in racing at the Nürburgring has led to aerodynamic and other performance developments being fed back into Aston Martin’s road cars.

A generous standard specification and some unique options ensure the special edition Vantage N420 is both exclusive and distinctive, while also offering a 27kg weight saving – achieved through the application of carbon fibre – over the standard V8 Vantage.

On the outside, wider sills combine perfectly with a carbon fibre splitter, side strakes and diffuser, while bold 10-spoke diamond turned alloy wheels complete with gloss black finish, black mesh vents and ‘Graphitic’ tailpipe finishers complete the co-ordinated look.

Inside the Vantage N420 offers an Iridium interior package, with graphite instruments, leather or Alcantara® steering wheel, special N420 sill plaques and lightweight carbon fibre seats, complete with ‘Race Track’ stitching as in the V12 Vantage. Bluetooth connectivity, cruise control and Park Distance Control are also standard.

Cementing the Vantage N420’s credentials as a special edition V8 Vantage tailored for the most discerning and enthusiastic drivers, it is fitted with the normally optional Sports Pack. This package combines revised springs, dampers and anti-roll bars for even more responsive and dynamic handling, while retaining the V8 Vantage’s renowned poise, balance and long distance ability. Finally, a new sports exhaust system delivers a suitably rousing soundtrack.

A further distinctive feature is the availability of a new range of optional Aston Martin ‘Race Collection’ paint schemes. Pairing bold body colours with contrasting hues for the cant rails and radiator grille surround, they celebrate the marque’s racing heritage. All of the company’s successful N24 Vantage racers are celebrated, with ‘Rose’ yellow, ‘Kermit’ green and ‘Elwood’ blue all featuring in the collection along with traditional Aston Martin Racing green. The white and black car shown in the accompanying images wears the equally striking ‘Asia Cup’ livery.

Production of the V8 Vantage N420 begins this month, with deliveries commencing in August and prices starting from £96,995.

<img style="display: block; It looked as if the company was turning its precious DBS, one of the most beautiful automobiles ever, into a hideously deformed hatchback -- all in the name of practicality. To us, that's like sewing pockets on to Elmo's face -- you end up with something slightly more useful, but at what cost?

Having driven one in the real world, we're happy to report the Rapide is not, in fact, a pocket-faced monstrosity. On the contrary, it's actually one of the prettiest cars on the road today -- particularly from the front and rear. These pictures won't do it justice, but in the metal, the Rapide will cause children you've never met to hug your shins and call you Mummy or Daddy.

Websofthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09785226191503641427noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7220846004749105053.post-42829433353491235952010-06-22T00:26:00.000-07:002010-06-22T00:27:47.064-07:00Aston Martin V12 Vantage sets the mark for its storied marque
The V12 Vantage is the best Aston Martin ever made, and Aston got it that way by following a simple formula that works every time.

“The V12 Vantage is the biggest engine in the smallest car,” said Aston's CEO Ulrich Bez. “It is the biggest fun.”

Bez should know; he races his company's cars in Germany on the Nrburgring's feared Nordschleife circuit. As we wrote this, Bez and his factory team of engineers--backed by a sizable squadron of privateer entries--were racing a fleet of Astons, including a V12 Vantage and a four-door Rapide, in the Nrburgring annual 24-hour race. Last year, the team took its second class win in as many years at the event.

But the engineers had plenty of practice. As a few other carmakers do, Aston has an engineering facility right at the track, the Aston Martin Test Centre. While the V12 Vantage was under development, engineers put 5,500 miles on it around the 12.9-mile, 73-turn Nordschleife. That's approximately 426 laps, all done at “95 percent of maximum speed.” So they got it pretty well sorted out by the time Aston introduced the European version of the car at Geneva last year.Websofthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09785226191503641427noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7220846004749105053.post-60025891608001937652010-06-22T00:23:00.000-07:002010-06-22T00:26:55.420-07:002012 Aston Martin DBS/DB9 prototype spied
The first addition to Aston Martin’s new generation line-up has been spied during testing, although it is still unclear whether it is the flasghip Aston Martin DBS or the Aston Martin DB9.

Confirming recent reports that Aston Martin would launch a completely refreshed model line-up over the next six years, it seems the brand is starting with its famous Grand Touring model.

The heavily camouflaged prototype appears to have come a long way since it was last spotted at the Nurburgring, with more bespoke sheet metal and Rapide-inspired head lamps.

Websofthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09785226191503641427noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7220846004749105053.post-76129445802102871102010-06-18T01:43:00.001-07:002010-06-18T01:43:39.943-07:002011 Aston Martin DB9: First Drive

This the latest DB9, deliveries of which will commence next month. The outgoing journey was done in a V12 Vantage – a fairly uncompromising speed machine, with prodigious engine performance and a sporting, no-holds-barred ride.

Now that Aston has this at one end of the 12-cylinder range (together with the similarly powered, 510bhp DBS) and the luxurious, grand touring Rapide at the other, it can afford to be less compromised with the DB9.
Websofthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09785226191503641427noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7220846004749105053.post-76990807203221129982010-06-18T01:42:00.001-07:002010-06-18T01:42:56.859-07:00James Bond Aston Martin DB5 comes to UK
Before it goes to Auction in October, this Bond DB5 will be the star attraction at a summer concours event

One of the most famous movie cars of all time, James Bond's Aston Martin DB5, is set to make an appearance at this month's Stoke Park Midsummer Classic on June 24.

The car played starring roles alongside Sean Connery in the James Bond films Goldfinger and Thunderball.

Websofthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09785226191503641427noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7220846004749105053.post-68659135284702606992010-06-18T01:39:00.000-07:002010-06-18T01:42:19.126-07:00Vintage 007 Aston Martin to return to the UK
A British classic car which was once described as the most famous in the world is set to appear at an event in Buckinghamshire this month.

The sole-remaining silver 1964 Aston Martin DB5 ''FMP 7B'' achieved iconic status for its appearances in the James Bond films ''Goldfinger'' and ''Thunderball''.

Having spent more than 40 years in the US with its original owner, the vehicle is now coming back to the UK to be sold at the annual ''Automobiles of London'' auction in October.

However, vintage car fans will be able to catch a glimpse of it in the very near future as it is scheduled to appear at the Stoke Park Midsummer Classic on June 26th.

"This DB5 is more than a car, it''s a film star and it''s an absolute privilege to be able to present it to the British public again, having been away in America for so many years," said Max Girardo, the managing director of RM Auctions Europe.

The DB5, which has been owned by US radio personality Jerry Lee since he paid Aston Martin $12,000 for it in 1969, is expected to fetch $5 million when it goes under the hammer.Websofthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09785226191503641427noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7220846004749105053.post-24784091120818315952010-06-07T19:16:00.000-07:002010-06-07T19:17:36.253-07:00Aston Martin V12 Vantage price

The V12-powered version of the Aston Martin Vantage arrives in U.S. dealer showrooms late this year, with a base sticker price of $181,345, which includes shipping charges and a $3,000 gas-guzzler tax.

Stepping up to the Carbon Black Special Edition adds $15,000 to the sticker price, for a total of $196,345.

Both models are powered by Aston's 6.0-liter V12 rated at 520 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque, mated to a six-speed manual transmission. They've been stirred. And somehow, James Bond movie cars keep seem to make headlines at auto auctions.

This time, it's the real deal -- the 1964 Aston Martin DB5 James Bond movie car featured in Goldfinger and Thunderball.

This one, one of two used in the movies, comes with all the goodies: fake machine guns, bullet-proof shield, revolving number plates, tracking device, removable roof panel, oil slick sprayer, nail spreader and smoke screen, all controlled from factory-installed toggles and switches hidden in the center arm-rest.

It's expected to bring at least $5 million when it goes on sale at the "Automobiles of London" event in London on Oct. 27.

RM says the DB5 was originally loaned to Eon Productions for the filming of the two Bond movies and returned to the Aston Martin Lagonda factory after a promotional tour. After a few years it was bought by an American:

Jerry Lee, a radio broadcaster based in Philadelphia, convinced the factory to sell the car to him for $12,000 in 1969. It is still owned by Lee. "The James Bond car has brought me much enjoyment for some 40 years," said Jerry Lee.Websofthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09785226191503641427noreply@blogger.com0
