Aston Martin Rapide

If you need any proof that a four-door supercar can actually work then look no further than the Aston Martin Rapide. Why? Well not only does its sleek silhouette pack the same amount of sex-appeal as the Vantage and DB9 but an extra two seats means that you can now pick up even more groupies when sat behind that leather steering wheel. A bona fide babe magnet, the Rapide is also the best Aston I’ve ever driven thanks to a level of intimacy you don’t seem to get in its siblings. Better than the mighty DBS? Yes.

The One77, DBS, DB9 Rapide and V12 Vantage are some of the cars that are fitted with the V12 engine of Aston Martin make. Now the same engine is going to be installed on the 2010 DBR1-2 Le Mans Race car. The engine was launched in 2009 and since then has gained in stature with each passing year. For the US this engine made first footfall in 2010.
The engine is of 6.0 liter capacity and can deliver 510 bhp or 380 kw / 517 PS and 570 Nm in torque which converts to a respectable 420 lb ft of torque.
The DBR1-2 model is made by Aston Martin and is an LMP1 race car. The unit participated in the races throughout 2009 to 2010.
The car also won the Le Mans Series in 2009 and achieved three podium finishes in 2010. The engine therefore has gained a lot of fame when it comes to its power credentials.
There is a video clip which depicts the performance of these two famed road race cars and that too in an unusual setting.

This year looks like things will be different. Well, we sure didn’t see this coming. The Aston Martin Cygnet ($TBA) is a new production two-door hatchback — yes, you read that correctly — that forgoes the company’s normal combination of lengthy, powerful machines for eco-friendliness and efficiency of both space and design, with a body that measures just under ten feet long while affording all the creature comforts one expects from Aston Martin.

Aston Martin Racing launched a new Vantage GT4 for 2011. The new car that comes with a V8 engine takes inspiration from Aston Martin’s V12 Vantage road car. The GT4 also features a remapped 4.7 liter engine offering increased levels of power and torque.
The company noted that the 2011 car is closely based on the V8 Vantage road car with key attributes being carried over. These attributes include the aluminium chassis, base engine and suspension design. For the first time, Aston Martin has also given an option to choose from a race-developed Bosch ABS and traction control system.
